Florida lawmakers took action against Disney, ending a special district that allowed the company to bypass the rules, regulations, and taxes applied to other (less politically connected) companies in the state. Today’s One Click Survey asks what – if anything – Texas should do.

Just Another Hillary-Supporting Republican…

• In the Republican runoff for House District 22, it turns out one of the candidates has been a financial supporter of Hillary Clinton. That candidate would be Elisa Chan, whose record on the San Antonio City Council also included raising taxes and working against the area’s conservatives.
   
• A new ad from the Defend Texas Liberty PAC is taking aim at Chan’s record – and highlighting her financial support of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
     
• Chan has reportedly tried to have the ad taken off the air, claiming she contributed to Hillary Clinton’s U.S. Senate campaign… when Clinton was running for president and using the Senate campaign account to raise money.
   
• So, Elisa, you say you’re a Clinton donor?

Asking The Candidates… About School Pornography

• With 34 Republican candidates in the May runoff elections for the state Legislature, Texas Scorecard’s Sydnie Henry asked if they support Texas closing the legal loopholes that allow explicit materials in school libraries.
     
• Just as revealing as the answers the candidates gave… are the candidates who refused to answer the question!

Homeschooling Surge Continues

• Public schools’ political agendas are pushing more parents to choose homeschooling than ever before, reports Erin Anderson. The Texas Home School Coalition estimates more than 750,000 Texas students are being educated at home.
     
• The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the number of Texas families who chose to homeschool their kids nearly tripled in 2020, from 4.5 percent to 12.3 percent.
     

• That growth was on full display last weekend, where hundreds of current and prospective homeschool families converged at THSC’s “Called to Teach” convention in Allen to learn more about homeschooling options. “We’re really happy with the turnout,” THSC President Tim Lambert told Texas Scorecard. “It’s bigger than last year, and we hope it continues to grow.”
     

• Interest in homeschooling continues to rise due to backlash from COVID policies and what parents see happening in public schools, according to Lambert. Parents at the convention told Texas Scorecard the same thing: seeing their local schools push social indoctrination and infuse academics with leftist ideology turned them to homeschooling.

Texas Teacher Fundraises For Youth’s ‘Trans’ Surgery

• A kindergarten teacher in the Round Rock Independent School District is raising funds so a teenage girl can surgically transition into a “male.” Jacob Asmussen has the troubling details.
       

• Lisa Pilgrim is only the latest public school official across the state to promote hazardous LGBT sexual behaviors—and mutilation experiments—to young Texans.

            

• On Monday, after news and satire website Current Revolt first posted a story of Pilgrim’s comments, the teacher responded defiantly in support of such operations. In numerous tweets, Pilgrim lamented and criticized efforts seeking to protect children from the experimental surgeries.
     

• Long-term follow-up studies have shown that those who permanently mutilate their bodies in a “sex-reassignment surgery” are 20 times more likely to kill themselves. “Persons with transsexualism, after sex reassignment, have considerably higher risks for mortality, suicidal behaviour, and psychiatric morbidity than the general population,” read one 2011 study.

• Marquez, Texas, became the 43rd city in Texas – and 48th in the nation – to outlaw abortion. Mark Lee Dickson explains the civic activism that went into making it happen.
