Hello John,
Arizona’s booming economy is making headlines — again!

The "shrewd economic policies" advanced by Governor Doug Ducey earned high praise in a recent Arizona Republic opinion piece ([link removed]) , which noted that attracting businesses and creating jobs doesn't happen by accident.

And The Center Square ([link removed]) website told its readers about a new report ([link removed]) that ranked Arizona as the #1 state for economic performance in the last decade and placed us in the top 3 for economic outlook.

Coming on the heels of the latest unemployment numbers ([link removed]) , there should be no doubt that Arizona's economy is headed in the right direction.

On Tuesday,LG Energy Solution announced ([link removed]) a $1.4 billion battery manufacturing facility on a 600-acre site in Queen Creek, which will produce batteries for electric vehicles.

“With the establishment of our new Arizona plant, LG Energy Solution aims to deliver unparalleled consumer value in the rapidly growing cylindrical battery market,” Youngsoo Kwon, CEO of LG Energy Solution, said in a press release. It will be the first facility of its kind in North America.

LG Energy Solution joins companies like Intel, TSMC, Lucid, Nikola and ElectraMeccanica in bringing high-tech manufacturing to the Grand Canyon State.

Meanwhile, in California, nearly 300 corporations have moved their headquarters ([link removed]'s%20Hoover%20Institution.) out of the state since 2018, according to Stanford University’s Hoover Institution.

None of this is an accident. Instead, it is Gov. Doug Ducey’s shrewd economic policies that welcome job creators instead of chasing them away.

Arizona has a strong economy and it will continue to be strong, according to the newly-released Rich States, Poor States report ([link removed]) from the ALEC-Laffer State Economic Competitive Index.

The report said that Arizona ranked first in the country in economic performance from 2010 to 2020; this was calculated by looking at the state's domestic migration, non-farm payroll employment, and state gross domestic product. The state also has a highly-positive economic outlook rank – meaning the organization thinks the state will continue to have strong economic growth. It ranked third in this category, behind Utah and North Carolina respectively.

A major reason for that high ranking in the 2022 metric was the state's recently enacted tax cuts, according to Jonathan Williams, ALEC's chief economist.

"It was a savings for hard-working Arizona taxpayers and I think the legislature and Gov. Ducey should be commended for such a commitment to getting tax burdens down in Arizona," he said.
