Monday Nature Mystery
We are pleased to announce the winner of our last Monday Nature Mystery, Linda McBridge! Please email us your snail mail address and preference for a hat or tote bag to: [email protected]
Congratulations to Linda for correctly identifying the Spring Beauty Mining Bee (Andrena erigeniae)! According to Bug of the Week, the Spring Beauty Mining Bee nesting sites are usually found in well drained, loany soils with sparse vegetation. They collect pollen from Spring Beauty flowers on their leg hairs, called scopa. Their work schedule is fairly relaxed - they begin their foraging around 10am and are usually done by 2:30 PM.
