Nine hundred Gold Star families and wounded military veterans recently sent a letter to President Biden calling on him to not delist the group as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). All of whom were either targeted or had a loved one targeted in a terrorist attack connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
From the letter:
"In our view, removing the IRGC’s FTO designation would threaten American lives, harm veterans and Gold Star families, and empower a terrorist organization that continues to sponsor and commit attacks against U.S. interests and allies in the Middle East."
Background: Amid nuclear talks, Iran is reportedly demanding that the Biden administration remove the IRGC from the list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations.
The IRGC, both directly and through its proxies, carries out terrorist attacks around the world and is responsible for killing hundreds of U.S. troops.
Our view: Delisting the IRGC and giving a terrorist regime that has attacked U.S. troops, allies and interests access to billions of dollars would make the Middle East more dangerous.
Congress must review any Iran deal and assess the implications for America and Israel.
