TAKING MTG TO COURT
US Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was grilled under oath for three hours Friday on her role in January 6th — because of our members who stood up to file the initial challenge and one brave, patriotic veteran, Michael Rasbury working with Our Revolution.
Together, we’re making history — this is the first time any of the insurrectionists in office have been cross-examined. “The outcome of this case will reverberate beyond Georgia,” CNN wrote, referencing our other challenges, “and could be lodged against former Trump if he runs again in 2024.”
As a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, Rasbury took the same oath as Rep. Greene “to protect democracy against all enemies foreign and domestic.” He said “she has flippantly ignored her oath of office and disqualified herself from the ballot.”
Our Revolution National Organizing Coordinator Hal Ginsberg was in the courtroom as Greene repeated she didn’t remember saying many things, including that she opposed the peaceful transfer of power to Joe Biden — right before lawyers played a video of her saying just that.
Our work clearly got under the skin of Trump, who whined that our lawsuit has Greene “going through hell.” Our members are also taking on US Reps. Madison Cawthorn in NC and others who literally joined the mob on January 6th and breached the Capitol.
Our Revolution members are also asking secretaries of state to investigate whether Matt Gaetz in Florida, Jim Jordan in Ohio, Doug Mastriano in Pennsylvania, and Dan Cox in Maryland should be eligible for the ballot in 2022.
The far right is going to come at us with everything they have now that our lawsuits are working. Chip in here to help us fight back and ban insurrectionists from ever running again!
On May 3rd, we’re holding a special Our Revolution Town Hall to Defend Democracy with our partners at Free Speech for People.
We’ll speak with the courageous Our Revolution members - and their legal team - who are taking the fight directly to these far-right extremists in office. And, we’re recruiting progressive patriots across the country to get engaged in this fight!

NINA + THE PEOPLE vs THE MACHINE
Billionaires, Big Oil and Big Pharma are pouring BIG money into the Ohio-11 race trying to buy the seat again and block Nina from Congress — but Our Revolution and Team Turner are one step ahead!
The SuperPAC, Democratic Majority For Israel, has kicked off an aggressive campaign with ads and mailers smearing Nina as anti-semitic, the Jewish independent outlet Forward reports.
DMFI spent $1.9M against her in August, and now, according to Lever News, oil mogul Stacy Schusterman gave the SuperPAC another $2M to try to crush Nina, a leading proponent of a Green New Deal, and promote her opponent Shontel Brown, who has declined to co-sponsor the Climate Emergency Act.
Meanwhile, Nina continues to build trust and relationships with Jewish residents across the district, and our volunteers have been on the ground connecting with voters and raising grassroots funding to combat the lies.
Marty Gelfand, a former South Euclid councilman, called the attacks against Turner “lashon hara,” or “evil speech” in Hebrew, a grave sin under Jewish law. “These kinds of attacks have an effect,” he said.
Gelfand is hopeful given the different terrain in the primary compared to the special election in August — when Nina’s race was alone on the ballot and around 8,000 Republicans voted for Brown, nearly double her winning margin. Now, there are GOP races on the ballot, and new district lines include all of Cleveland, where Nina won by 10 points.
“We’ve got to be disciplined, more agile and never underestimate the other side. We’ve got to know they’re going to fight dirty,” Nina told Maximilian Alvarez of In These Times. “We need to bump back against these forces with similar force.”
“We gotta coalesce, find those issues we have in common, find those candidates who will fight for them, and then fight like hell to get them elected and get change,” she said. “This is about having allies in activist groups, not just in the realm of electoral politics — that’s what Our Revolution is doing right now.”
With early voting underway and just over a week left to vote, we’re going all out to bring home this win. “The energy on the ground is palpable!” Nina told us. “The primary is May 3rd — now is the time to maximize our efforts together.”
SPECIAL EVENT TO FUND NINA’S RUN!
Our Revolution will host a Virtual Fundraiser for Nina Turner at 8pm ET/5pm PT on Tuesday! Join us for a special evening discussing Medicare for All with Nina and other leading healthcare justice advocates.
Joined by Michael Lighty, RoseAnn DeMoro and Dr. Ron Birnbaum, Our Revolution National Organizing Coordinator Anna-Marta Visky will talk about our work to pass Medicare for All resolutions in cities and states across the country. With a donation, you’ll receive a Zoom link to this intimate organizing call.

“We’re not taking a DIME from special interests or corrupt Super PACs, which means we’re counting on supporters like you to ensure we have the resources to run and win,” Nina said. “If you can’t donate, that’s okay! You’re needed in this fight.” SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER

ANDY LEVIN vs BIG MONEY
DMFI and AIPAC are also pouring money into the race for Michigan’s 11th, backing conservative Dem Haley Stevens against one of our strongest working class fighters in Congress - US. Rep. Andy Levin.
But Andy has our movement. The New Republic said he has the backing of a group “that the most unapologetic progressives in Congress seek out: Our Revolution.”
AIPAC is backing 37 Republicans who refused to certify Biden’s election and has now moved $300,000 to Stevens, who says she “went to a predominantly Jewish summer camp.” Andy, who is Jewish, says: “The path to a secure, peaceful future for a democratic homeland for my people requires the political and human rights of Palestinians.”
Despite being portrayed as the most “loyal” to the party establishment, both Haley Stevens and Shontel Brown are now being rewarded by dark money groups for opposing President Biden’s plan Iran Nuclear Deal.
Voters who want to see government work for their lives and serve their interests should vote for Andy. “This is about working people having power and prosperity,” he said. “I’m a co-sponsor of Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. I’m the union organizer in the Congress, and I authored the resolution to allow our own staff to unionize.”
We can’t let big money back us down in these critical races across the country.

SEGAL’S RUN IN RHODE ISLAND
Our ally in the fight against corporate power, David Segal, has officially announced his candidacy for Congress in RI-2! He’s up against the Clinton machine, but his momentum is starting to build.
“We have the people-power to reach the voters, we have the money to compete, and we have the urgent case to make that we deserve leaders who can bring people together and ensure their voices are heard,” David said. “That’s what I’ve done for 20 years, and that’s the only kind of leadership that can affect real positive change.”
Uprise RI reports: “Segal has already earned some high profile endorsements in his bid. Joseph Geevarghese, the Executive Director of Our Revolution, pointed to Segal’s work building broad coalitions ‘to fight monopoly power, advance democratic reforms, and more.’”
David’s opponent, Seth Magaziner, a former asset manager, has $1.3M in the bank, The Providence Journal reports, noting most of it came from the state’s political and business elite. He also seems to be very popular with his own family — raising $27,400 just from people with the last name Magaziner.
David led Demand Progress for a decade, and he will be a partner with us and champion for Medicare for All, the Fight for $15, A Green New Deal, criminal justice reform, and more.

CISNEROS vs CUELLAR
The race in Texas-28 is getting heated between Jessica Cisneros and Henry Cuellar — the worst Democrat in Congress and the corrupt incumbent we must defeat.
Our movement has catapulted Jessica to the top fundraiser among all federal candidates in Texas — including Cuellar and Ted Cruz, The Texan reports. But, Cuellar’s cash-on-hand sits at $1.4M, and he is running a new TV ad against Jessica.
Our Revolution Texas and the Cisneros team are building on years of deep organizing in Texas communities, and now it comes down to this runoff election. Become a member of Our Revolution to help power this campaign!

JUMAANE & ANA MARÍA RELEASE CLIMATE PLAN
Our Revolution-endorsed Jumaane Williams and Ana María Archila - who are running for NY Governor and Lt. Governor - released their Climate Plan on Earth Day Friday.
Our Revolution NY Organizing Coordinator Jennyfer Almanzar joined the press conference in Brooklyn and rallied support for our climate candidates.
“Utility bills are out-of-control across NY and we are already feeling the grave impacts of climate change,” Ana María told the crowd. “Our plan lowers utility costs and delivers a clean energy future for our state.”

Democrats must deliver for the material conditions of voters’ lives ahead of the 2022 midterms if they want to avoid another “shellacking,” as former President Obama famously described the 2010 elections that cost the Party control of Congress.
“Americans are being price-gouged. Inflation is hitting their bottom line, and the number one job of any politician is to raise the standard of living of their constituents,” Our Revolution executive director Joseph Geevarghese told The Guardian.
Looking to the midterms, Joseph said: “It’s already going to be very difficult to win. And then you’ve got obstructionists in the Democratic party making it harder for the president and our party to prevail.”
The progressive agenda is deflationary and would reduce costs to the majority of people in the country. The Biden Administration has the power and opportunity to meet the moment through executive action, and time is ticking.

BERNIE ON THE ROAD WITH WORKERS
Rumors of Bernie 2024 are circulating, but the truth is — Our Revolution and the progressive movement are doing the work today to build the worker power we need to forge a better present and future for all of us.
One rumor is true: This weekend, Bernie’s hitting the road! And, we’re joining him to rally with Amazon Labor Union on Sunday ahead of their 2nd election for a union at LDJ5 in Staten Island.
Then, we’ll rally with Starbucks Workers United Sunday evening in Richmond, Va., where they went 5 for 5 in union elections last week!
Bernie lit the match and he’s still out here with us, fighting back. It takes labor power, organizers like us, and elected allies all lifting together to advance our progressive mission forward.
This is how we build momentum. We’re taking on American oligarchs and winning key battles — but now we need to take our political revolution to the next level.

Monday was Tax Day, and Our Revolution joined with Americans for Tax Fairness in a national call to pass a Billionaires Tax. It’s time to #TaxBillionaires.
While working people pay income taxes on our wages in every paycheck, ProPublica has exposed that many billionaires pay no income taxes at all on billions of dollars of investment gains.
Even when billionaires do pay taxes, their tax rate is far below what nurses, teachers, and firefighters pay. As folks struggle to afford groceries, healthcare and rent, billionaires are buying superyachts and going to space — there’s never been a better time for a Billionaires Income Tax.
Billionaires have gained $2T since the start of the pandemic, and it’s long past time for Congress and the Biden Administration to act.

CALLING FOR WAR POWERS RESOLUTION
Our Revolution joined 68 national organizations Thursday in a call for Congress to pass the War Powers Resolution to end all U.S. involvement in the Saudi-led war in Yemen. Our letter was sent to every member of Congress and covered in Forbes.
In 2019, Bernie and Ro Khanna were instrumental in passing the War Powers Act in the House and Senate — for the first time in history. Trump vetoed it then, but the Biden Administration has a chance to do differently now.
The humanitarian crisis remains desperate, and a resolution is more essential than ever to maintain momentum for the fragile two-month truce and block U.S. support for any renewed hostilities.

MAKING MARYLAND MORE DEMOCRATIC
In a new op-ed in Maryland Matters, Our Revolution Montgomery County Co-Chair Ed Fischman argues the need to reform the state’s anti-democratic legislative appointment process — which currently leaves voters out of the equation.
Del. Al Carr (D) waited until the filing deadline to withdraw from re-election and file for a different race. “The timing of his switch worked to ensure there would be no contest for his seat in the July 19 primary,” Ed explained.
Our Revolution is calling this out because we need democracy in this system. Now, the candidate will be selected not elected by a committee Tuesday. “This worked to prevent voters from having any choice to fill the seat. A quarter of the General Assembly were first selected by committees, not voters,” Ed said.

OUR 4-POINT PLAN TO WIN!
Our Revolution is the largest grassroots-funded political action group in the country, and our members’ investment in this movement is producing results.
Inspired by Bernie, we’ve laid the groundwork and now we’re poised to build on over five years of organizing and movement building to take our inside-outside strategy to the next level. We know what we’re up against, but we’re proving that organized people beat organized money. As we keep growing, so will our victories.
