John,
We want to keep you up-to-date on Jared’s work advocating for Mainers and breaking through partisan gridlock in Congress, so here is just some of what Rep. Golden has been working on since our last newsletter.
SECURING INVESTMENTS FOR AGING LOCAL INFRASTRUCTURE:
Jared recently secured $1.7 million in federal funding for the Livermore Falls and Jay wastewater treatment facility. Last week he toured the treatment plant, which is a half-century old, to learn more about the planned repairs and the projected savings residents should see on their future wastewater bills as a result of the project.
SUPPORTING THE WABANAKI TRIBES:
Earlier this year Jared worked with tribal leaders to introduce the Advancing Equality for Wabanaki Nations Act, which would begin to help put the Wabanaki tribes in Maine on a more level playing field with other federally-recognized tribes in the country. In April Jared’s bill received a hearing before the House Natural Resources Subcommittee for Indigenous Peoples, with four chiefs of Wabanaki tribes testifying on its behalf.
BANNING CONGRESSIONAL STOCK TRADING:
Jared believes that serving in elected office should be about representing your community, not turning a quick buck. That’s why this month, he led a bipartisan group of 19 of their House colleagues to call on the House Administration Committee to take action to advance legislation to ban members of Congress from trading or selling individual stocks.
We know that none of this would have been possible without your continued support. Thank you for being on our team.
Sincerely,
Team Golden
P.S. Things are heating up in ME-02. The GOP establishment listed Jared as a top target to beat in November, and even after redistricting, ME-02 is rated a “Toss-Up.” We can’t let them undo all the progress we’ve made, so if you can, will you chip in $5 or more to send Jared back to Washington this fall and continue his work fighting for Mainers in Congress?
