John,

First thing tomorrow, Kansas House Representatives will be voting to bring Governor Kelly's plan to Axe the Food Tax out of committee. Contact your legislators immediately and tell them to vote yes on this motion – it's time Kansas ends the food sales tax.

Here's what you need to know:

  • HB 2487: Governor Kelly's plan to Axe the Food Tax to 0%
    • Kansas currently has the second highest food tax in the country. Governor Kelly's plan will save Kansas families an estimated $500 every year – that's money that can be better spent on other necessities, payments, or a rainy day fund. Kansas Republicans have been sitting on her bill for months. The time is now for lawmakers to listen to Kansans and move on Axe the Food Tax.

Here's what you can do about it:

Contact your legislators to let them know you stand with Axe the Food Tax! Call, email, fax, etc. ASAP! Here's what you can say:

Dear [insert Representative name]

I am writing to you today to urge you to vote yes on the motion for HB 2487. This bill is necessary. Kansas currently has the second highest food sales tax in the nation, and we can afford to Axe the Food Tax. This plan will save our families $500 every single year – that's money back into our pockets that can be used on other necessary expenses, or even a rainy day fund. This is a bipartisan issue, but for too long there's been no action. The time is now to axe the food sales tax to 0% once and for all.

Thank you for your time,

[insert your name]

The vote is set for tomorrow morning. Be sure to contact your legislators in time and make your voice heard!

Onward,
KDP Team
