As Christians, we know someday we will leave this world and be united with God in heaven, yet many of us know very little about this place.
The overwhelming responsibilities of this world — and there are many — often eclipse our thoughts about the next one. Heaven seems remote and irrelevant to our existence.
Yet we all yearn for a better world, especially when we experience disappointments: a bad report from the doctor, the betrayal of a friend, the breakup of an intimate relationship, financial hardship, or the death of a loved one. At those times we want to believe — we have to believe — that there is a better place.
Over and over in the Bible, God promises you that there is a better place ... that His people will live with Him forever in a place where perfect righteousness dwells. Heaven is a real place.
