This work is measured in millions: Millions of vaccines delivered. Millions of lives saved. Millions of happier, healthy children.
From post-World War II to COVID-19, UNICEF has been a leader in global vaccinations. Every year, UNICEF and partners help vaccinate more than 45 percent of the world’s youngest children — going to some of the most remote places on Earth to reach the most vulnerable children.
However, regular health services have been disrupted due to the pandemic, natural disasters and war and other conflicts. Immunization progress made over decades is starting to unravel. In 2020, 23 million children missed out on basic childhood vaccines — putting them at a significantly higher risk of contracting diseases that were once close to eradication. But we can reverse this devastating trend.
The Reach Every Mother and Child Act will ensure U.S. investment in cost-effective lifesaving interventions like vaccines, quality nutrition, skilled birth attendants and breastfeeding. With your support, we can end preventable childhood deaths. >> |
In the past 20 years alone, UNICEF and its partners have helped to immunize more than 1.1 billion children, saving 2-3 million lives each year. So many lives saved by a simple, routine vaccination.
This is nothing short of miraculous, but we can’t stop now.
This World Immunization Week, let’s work together to ensure the health and well-being of millions of children. |
Vaccines work. They are the simplest way to save a life. And the good news is, if you have ever been vaccinated, and you most certainly have, you are already helping to make the world a safer place for children. You are already helping to save lives — thank you.
