John — Eddie Geller here.

Here's a question I often get: How did you go from being an actor/comedian to becoming an activist and eventually a candidate for Congress? Well, it's because of Reddit.

Can you take a minute to read about how I got involved with politics and then chip in $5 to my campaign for Congress? [[link removed]]

John, I always cared about what was going on in the world — but it wasn’t until I got involved with the fight for “net neutrality” that I really became an activist.

It all started while scrolling Reddit one day after the 2010 elections. [[link removed]] Republicans had just taken over Congress and I saw an article about how the GOP taking over the House meant that the prospects for “net neutrality” were doomed. I was pissed. I don’t like being told that we can’t get things done. So, I took on the challenge.

Now, the principle of “Net Neutrality” essentially means that corporations shouldn't be able to decide which websites you're allowed to visit or censor content they don't like. But right now — massive companies like Verizon and Comcast would still love to do JUST THAT!

I firmly believe the internet belongs to EVERYONE. [[link removed]] I knew I had to get involved. Working with other Redditors, we tried to hold these corporations accountable by creating petitions, lobbying Congress, and even starting a non-profit!

And while the battle for net neutrality wages on today — I’ll never forget my scrappy start in activism. I’ve come a long way since my Reddit days, my fight to stop the corporate takeover of our politics is very much alive. [[link removed]]

That’s one of the main reasons I’m running for office. Corporations should not control our politics. But right now — corporations have more power now than almost any other time in our history (looking at you Gilded Age).

I know we can put people first and stop the corporate takeover of our politics. So, I’m reaching out. John, can you please stop the corporate takeover of our politics by chipping in $5 — or whatever you can afford — to my grassroots campaign? [[link removed]]
