[ [link removed] ]Welch for Vermont
Hello,
It's easy to take democracy for granted in America, but ours is under
attack.
It feels like every week we learn new, horrifying details about the
January 6th insurrection. And we’re constantly seeing new, appalling
anti-voting rights legislation being proposed across the country.
Let’s be clear: Trump-aligned state houses are making it harder to vote,
gerrymandering congressional districts to further marginalize voters of
color, and taking away the independent role of state authorities to
certify election results in order to destabilize free and fair elections
in the future.
The right to vote and the peaceful transfer of power are core tenets of
our nation’s democracy. The future depends on our fight to protect them.
I’ve seen Vermonters work together in both big ways and small to protect
our democracy. From talking to family and friends, registering people in
their communities to vote, voting in local elections, educating people
about legislation that can make a difference, and more. And I’m ready to
bring that Vermont Way to the Senate each day.
Fighting for democracy is one of the core reasons I’m in this
race. [ [link removed] ]If you think
protecting our democracy is one of the most important issues we face in
this election, I’d appreciate it if you signed your name alongside other
grassroots supporters.
Democracy is on the ballot in November, and we can't let it lose.
Thanks for being with me in this fight.
Peter
