Republicans have made it clear that they hope to gain 60, even 70 seats in the House this cycle. If Republicans gain more than five seats, Democrats will lose the majority.
 
 
If Kevin McCarthy gets the speaker’s gavel, Republicans will waste no time in trying to undo all the progress Democrats have made. They plan to:
  • Repeal the Affordable Care Act, ripping tens of millions of Americans from their health coverage;
  • Finish the border wall and name it after Donald Trump;
  • Permanently shut down the January 6th Committee and bury the truth about Trump’s insurrection;
  • Do away with Social Security and Medicare;
  • Raise taxes on working families;
  • Let the ultraconservative Supreme Court destroy Roe v. Wade;
  • AND gut Americans’ civil rights and voting rights – especially those of people of color.
