I wanted to tell you a little about why I am running for Virginia State Senate.
From childhood to adulthood, I have seen firsthand what it means to have all cards stacked against you. I grew up on welfare, struggling to make ends meet and feeling the detriments of no healthcare, no resources, and no support as both a child and a parent. It's heartbreaking. It was difficult for me to make sense of myself and the world when I felt that I was forced to face some of the toughest battles imaginable all on my own.
When I got older and had my first child, I worked day in and day out to try and support him and his special needs. But without healthcare, I had to watch my son suffer in and out of hospitals, almost dying several times, knowing there was no way for me to help. That is, until the Medicaid program came about– which saved both my son's life and my own. With just a few college credits and a government certification training, I then went on to build a career as a single working mom, serving as a cybersecurity specialist with the Department of Homeland Security for over 20 years.
Despite all the challenges thrown my way, I’ve always persevered.
I want to make Virginia a better place for families like my own. I want to be an example for the many other people out there who feel left behind. My work as state senator for Virginia would be focused on getting the Commonwealth moving forward once again. From a strong education for Virginia’s kids to quality affordable healthcare to safeguarding the right to choose, I will deliver for Virginia.
So join me in this campaign by giving $5 to help send someone to Richmond who will stand up to Youngkin's divisive politics.
