Team,
I’m proud to be serving as California’s Attorney General, and I want to tell you why I’m running this year.
We’re facing unprecedented threats from far-right Republicans and lawyers seeking to invalidate fundamental protections – the right to have an abortion, protection from discrimination, gun safety laws that keep our communities safe.
As California’s chief law enforcement officer, I see my role as the People’s Attorney — someone who ensures that justice is fairly served, regardless of a person’s race or economic status. This year, I’m facing two right-wing opponents who are refusing to say whether they would continue the critical work done by the California Department of Justice to protect these rights.
They won’t say whether they would support our bill to hold gun manufacturers accountable for the pain and harm they help cause. They won’t say whether they would fight for common sense gun safety measures like background checks and assault weapons bans to fight the flood of guns coming from across our state’s borders. They won’t say if they would continue my office’s efforts to block laws across the country that target LGBTQ kids, or whether they would continue my office’s efforts to support Roe v. Wade in federal court.
There’s a reason they’re hiding – they don’t want you to know that they stand with the far-right, and against California families, on these core legal issues.
I’m running for Attorney General because I know that these issues matter – and I’ll never hide from the values that I and so many other Californians hold dear. I’m proud to be a California Democrat and to have the backing of others who share these values, and I’m thrilled to have the endorsement of the California Democratic Party.
If you’re with me in this fight, please add your name right now to endorse me in the California Attorney General race this year.
Thank you,
Rob Bonta
California Attorney General
