This weekend we are reminded of the power of Black women leaders who have taken their painful experiences and turned them into a powerful drive for a better country for our children.

Yesterday marks 7 years from the day Jordan Davis, son of Rep. Lucy McBath, senselessly lost his life simply because he and his friends enjoyed their music loudly while pumping gas. 

The pain of losing a child is something no parent should experience and it’s remarkable that Lucy is not only still standing but successfully pushing gun safety legislation as a Congresswoman in Washington. 

Now more than ever, it’s critical to tell our stories and showcase the commitment of Black women leaders who are emerging across all industries to use their voices to make a difference.

We are incredibly grateful for Rep. McBath’s strength and courage to stand in her truth and fight daily so that no other family has to go through what she went through.

“Don't ever let anybody tell you what you can't do. Because the way I look at it is, I've lost the most important thing in my life was my child and I've been to the bottom. There isn't anything that anybody could say or do to hurt me. Or make me believe that I'm any less than. Because I know what I've been called to do. And I'll do it with every breath of my being. And I may not even be here to see the end and the change. But I'll live my life knowing that I've done the best that I can to make a difference for everybody else that comes after me.”
