share this headline that I recently saw on the news with you:

The article talked about how Democrats rely heavily on Black voters to win
elections — yet when Black candidates run for office, even to this day,
they are plagued with questions around “electability”.
So whenever someone says Kentucky will never elect a Black person to U.S.
Senate — whenever I see headlines like the one I just shared — I know it’s
because they don’t see us.
They don’t hear us. They don’t know our truth. And whether or not my own
“electability” is put into question, I know this to be true:
Kentuckians from the hood to the holler will organize and be ready to
transform our future this year.

Since we launched our campaign last July — and even long before that —
Kentuckians from urban and rural communities have been organizing. We
stand together, lean into love, mobilize around our common bonds, and do
this work, all so we can transform our future.
I know my neighbors in Kentucky deserve a Senator who won’t disrespect and
embarrass us. We deserve a Senator who will deliver results, not chase
conspiracies and stir up chaos. We deserve a Senator who actually cares.
I will
be that Senator. “Electability” be damned.
In order to get there, we need to build a widespread, diverse coalition of
voters. We need to organize in every corner of Kentucky and center our
conversations around the challenges too many families in Kentucky face
right now. And we need a powerful, grassroots funded movement fueling
these efforts to organize and mobilize enough folks to take back our
power.
