The moment pro-lifers have been working toward for nearly five decades could happen very soon: Roe v. Wade may finally be overturned!
A victory at the Supreme Court would make a lifesaving difference for so many preborn children and should be celebrated. But you also must know that the work on behalf of those in the womb won’t end there. Instead, Roe’s reversal will mark the beginning of new challenges in the fight for life. Challenges that cannot be ignored or else more lives may be lost.
If Roe is repealed, the decision on whether to allow abortion to continue or not will fall to each individual state, with 26 states likely enacting life-affirming restrictions.
Even though preborn children would thankfully be legally protected in these states, the needs of mothers facing unexpected pregnancies don’t change post-Roe. Their housing, financial, and childcare challenges will remain…and these are the obstacles that so often lead moms to think they have no other choice besides abortion. The places that restrict abortion are likely the places where help and hope will be needed the most.
Just think: What will happen to these mothers facing unexpected pregnancies if Roe is reversed? Where will they turn for help?
Sadly, some moms may make the devastating decision to travel to a nearby state where abortion is still legal. More children could be lost to abortion, and more families permanently damaged.
