John — I am pleased to announce that I have been working in collaboration with Governor Kathy Hochul, the Mayor’s office and some incredible local organizations to open a temporary medical care unit at Astoria Houses, which will provide free COVID-19 vaccines and tests.
I want to personally thank the New York City Housing Authority, Astoria Houses tenant leaders, the Floating Hospital, the Tuchman Foundation, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology for their role in the program, which will provide critical healthcare access for New Yorkers.
The Floating Hospital will be operating at the site on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 AM-5 PM providing healthcare services to anyone in need – I highly encourage you to take advantage of this incredible resource to help ensure your health and safety as well as the health and safety of your loved ones and our communities.
COVID-19 has highlighted the need for expanded healthcare accessibility as countless Americans have been barred from receiving care solely because of their zip code. It is my top priority that our district has access to the resources it deserves, and I am confident that the medical care unit at Astoria Houses will improve the numbers and severity of COVID-19 cases in our district.
