Dear Republicans,

It is with great sadness that I learned today - shortly after the adjournment of our State Convention - that a Utah legend had joined our Heavenly Father. Senator Orrin Hatch was the longest serving Republican Senator and the longest serving Senator from Utah in history. No legislator alive today has authored more bills that have become law than Senator Hatch. This is a testament to his legacy. 

It’s hard to find a place to start to recognize Senator Hatch’s significant contributions to our beloved Utah - and the nation. A BYU graduate. An amateur boxer. Chairman of three significant Congressional Committees - including the Senate Finance Committee, which ushered through President Trump’s 2017 tax cuts. A lawyer who contributed to the founding of the Federalist Society, the organization that has identified countless conservative federal judge candidates. A Supreme Court short list candidate. A champion of a federal balanced budget. A patriot. 

Utah has lost perhaps the most historically significant and beloved member of the Republican Party - here and nationally. The Party Officers offer our sincerest condolences to the Hatch family. Rest In Peace Senator Hatch.
