Earlier this month Senator Bernie Sanders joined with Representative Cori Bush to introduce a bill to strengthen America’s renewable energy supply chain AND lower skyrocketing utility costs for working families.

Justice Democrats will always support the bold environmental policy proposals from Bernie and our first-ever candidate recruit: Cori Bush. This is the kind of progressive, transformative policymaking we need in Congress.

Here's what Cori had to say about the bill: "Energy security means making energy affordable for every household. Energy security means investing in energy efficiency so people can breathe clean air and keep the heat or air conditioning on. Energy security means alleviating the climate crisis by reducing our emissions and transitioning to renewable energy."

Working towards a Green New Deal begins with passing legislation that invests in renewable energy, lessens our reliance on fossil fuels, and reduces the cost burdens for the people.

The bill would:

• Call for the use of the Defense Production Act (DPA) to build up renewable energy in the U.S. in order to lower prices and reduce our reliance on dangerous and unpredictable fossil fuels
• Invest in the renewable energy supply chain to support reliable, affordable and safe energy production and green jobs with strong labor standards
• Invest billions in energy efficiency to lower utility prices, including investments in weatherization and heat pumps
