Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s office says governors general are entitled to their entitlements.

Thousands of CTF supporters like you emailed the prime minister and told him to scrap these outrageous expenses. Thousands of supporters like you got an insultingly dismissive reply. In case you haven’t seen this response, here’s a taste:

“As you may know, there are laws that entitle former governors general to an annuity, as well as an expense account for office and travel expenditures.”

In other words, the prime minister’s office believes governors general are entitled to their entitlements at your expense and that’s it.

We want to make sure you can send the message that isn’t good enough.

Not only can Trudeau do something about it, but he has even pledged to review the policy back in 2018.

These are not small perks either. Those expense accounts can reach up to $206,000 per former governor general per year, for the rest of their lives.

Even federal bureaucrats recommended reining in these perks. Yet, our prime minister has done absolutely nothing.

Scrapping lifetime expense accounts for former governors general shouldn’t take over three years.

You need to crank up the pressure.

We have secured a sidewalk billboard at the corner of Sparks and Metcalfe in Ottawa, right on the corner of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s office.

It’s going to quote the ridiculous email thousands of you received and make it crystal clear that it’s not good enough and it’s time to end the perks.

Putting up the ad where the prime minister’s staff will see it daily on their way to work will cost us $5,000 for two months.
