Friend, It’s no secret that congressional Republicans are doing everything they can to block our progressive agenda. But the good news is we can make a real difference for millions of working Americans without their help: With the stroke of a pen, President Biden can cancel student debt. He’s already canceled billions of dollars for disabled borrowers and by reforming the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program -- but now it’s time to go even further. This is clearly an economic justice issue, but it’s also an issue of racial and gender justice. Black communities -- especially Black women -- carry disproportionate amounts of debt, which is a major factor in maintaining the racial wealth gap. This broken system leaves the same communities under resourced and unsupported, and perpetuates generational inequality. That’s why we’ve built a movement of community leaders, borrowers, and legislators from the ground up. And now’s not the time to slow down. Can I count on you to chip in to help keep up the pressure and send a clear message that working families can’t afford to wait? We can get this done together.
