In just a moment, I am going to ask you to make a contribution to my re-election campaign. Please give me a chance to explain why this request — especially today — is so important.

Here’s the truth:

I don’t spend a ton of time on the phone or traveling across the country asking oil executives or Wall Street CEOs to contribute to my campaign.

Instead, the overwhelming majority of the donations we receive come from people chipping in small amounts of money. I am very proud of that fact.

That also gives me the time I need to really focus on the important work in Congress. It allows me to lead and organize on expanding voting rights, on Ukraine, and more.

But because most of the donations we receive come in response to emails, it does mean I have to ask. And with one week to go before the end of our April fundraising deadline, today is one of those days:
