Dear John,
Thank you to the thousands of people in the AFSC community who have recently messages to Congress! We have two major Congressional efforts underway – and if you haven’t helped yet, today is a great day to act. With some trying to roll back recent progress to make immigration more humane, it’s important to voice support for restoring the right to seek asylum at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Over a year later and Biden still has not restored access to asylum: AFSC’s Imani Cruz shares an update and analysis on U.S. immigration policies. Today, there are still thousands of people in immigration detention and the border is closed to most asylum seekers. Find out more in this update.
Take action to abolish the death penalty:Death sentences do not deter crime. They are also disproportionately handed to people of color. Yet, an execution was carried out in Texas this week, and two more are planned in Texas and South Carolina this month. Please join us in condemning these acts of violence. It’s time to abolish the death penalty once and for all.
