John --

We hope you are excited for our 2022 State Convention! Here at the WisGOP, we have been busy preparing for the annual event, in Middleton this year, while ramping up our ground game efforts ahead of crucial elections in November. If you would like to attend the convention on May 20-22, you can still register here <[link removed]>, or sign up here <[link removed]> to join us by becoming a volunteer at the local level.

Take a look at what we’re working on at the Republican Party of Wisconsin below. As always, thanks for all you do!

- Team WisGOP

We are less than 30 days out from our WisGOP State Convention in Middleton on May 20-22! There is still time to register for an action-packed weekend, where attendees will be able to hear from leaders in the conservative movement, get to know candidates for statewide office and elected officials, and help us prepare ahead of November. Visit our convention website here <[link removed]> to sign up before it’s too late!

This Earth Day, Democrats have used the holiday to remind Wisconsinites of their accomplishments for the environment – or lack thereof. Democrat candidate for U.S. Senate Mandela Barnes claims to be an expert on environmental issues because he chairs Tony Evers’ Climate Change Task Force. However, when asked if any of his “55 concrete strategies” for addressing climate change in Wisconsin had been successfully implemented, Barnes could not name one. Conversely, under President Trump, Republicans proved that protecting our earth doesn’t have to come at the expense of our economic growth. Read more on our website here <[link removed]>.

Friday afternoon vetoes have become a hallmark of Tony Evers’ three years of “governing” – and this month, Evers set a record for the governor with the most vetoes in state history. Last Friday, Evers once again tried to veto critical legislation under the radar, including a slew of education bills, after he vetoed several public safety bills the week before.

Some of Evers’ recent vetoes were of bills that would have:

- Created a Parental Bill of Rights

- Delivered school choice for all

- Established uniform standards for school accountability reports

- Required screening children’s reading abilities earlier and more often and creating personalized reading plans for at-risk students

- Launched a campaign to recruit more law enforcement officers

- Increased penalties for damaging historic buildings, statues, and landmarks

- Ensured that bad actors could not commit voter fraud in nursing homes

- Clarified requirements for voters to mark themselves as “indefinitely confined”

- Implemented talent attraction programs to help Wisconsin’s labor shortage

Tony Evers doesn’t want Wisconsinites to know that he doesn’t support law enforcement, wants to hinder educational transparency, and won’t get behind commonsense election integrity reforms that would make it harder to cheat. If Evers wants to govern from the far-left fringe of his party, he should at least be transparent about where he stands.

In Case You Missed It…

SHOT/CHASER: “Make It Up” Mandela Barnes Flip-Flops on Immigration, Ditches Biden <[link removed]>

At one point, Barnes said he “needed” an “Abolish ICE” shirt from the Democratic Socialists of America, but he’s now come to the recent realization that in order to earn any votes in Wisconsin, he needs to care about border security. Barnes’ election year hypocrisy was on full display last week, when he said that he doesn’t want to lift Title 42 “simply because there’s not a detailed plan in place so that we can keep asylum seekers and people in the country safe.” This word salad response will remind voters of his “no one slogan can capture all the work we have to do” explanation for his previous “Abolish ICE” backtrack.

In Lead-Up to Tax Day, Democrats Reveal Plans to Raise Taxes <[link removed]>

While Wisconsinites file their federal returns on Tax Day, they have been reminded once again that Wisconsin Democrats will raise taxes in Washington, D.C. if given the chance. Democrat U.S. Senate candidates were unanimous in their opposition to the tax cuts Senator Ron Johnson achieved for 95 percent of businesses, even as citizens struggle under Joe Biden’s rising inflation tax. The only possible conclusion to draw is that they would repeal the tax cuts and increase taxes on the small businesses we rely on to create jobs.

Two Years Later, Tony Evers’ DWD Still Fails the Unemployed <[link removed]>

Tony Evers failed to meet the moment during the height of the pandemic, and the repercussions are still ongoing. According to the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Center for Research on the Wisconsin Economy, in February 2022 “nearly seven percent of first unemployment payments were delayed more than eight weeks,” despite low unemployment. This follows more than two years of failure by Tony Evers’ Department of Workforce Development to deliver unemployed Wisconsinites the benefits they were promised.
