ACLU

Hi ACLU Supporter –

My name is Raquel, and I work at the ACLU to help organize our National Advocacy Institute.

I started this work two years ago as an intern because I believe this program can prepare youth activists to break down barriers and stereotypes. The ACLU's Advocacy Institute can empower the next generation to change the views and opinions of elected officials and entire communities. I still believe this – now more than ever as we get ready for next summer’s program in the ACLU's centennial year.

We are now accepting early decision applications for the 2020 ACLU National Advocacy Institute in Washington, D.C. Apply by December 15 or share with a youth activist you know who wants to shape our democracy.

At this week-long program, students will examine the success and struggles of some of the most important national and state-wide advocacy campaigns. They'll meet ACLU lawyers, policy experts, and students' own elected officials. High schoolers will also get the chance to tour college campuses.

Here are the dates you need to know:

  • December 15, 2019: Early Decision Deadline
  • July 22-28, 2020: High School Program (ages 15-18)
  • July 24-29, 2020: College and Community Program (ages 18-24)

Scholarships are available, too – covering the full cost of the Advocacy Institute, including all program fees and travel. These scholarships are given on a rolling basis so be sure to apply before they're gone.

Apply by December 15 or share with a youth activist you know who wants to shape our democracy.

I can't wait to see what our youth activists have in store,

Raquel Fossett
