Earth Day is not a holiday meant for celebration. This day serves the incredibly important role of forcing all of us to reflect on the past, present - and most importantly - the future of this planet that we all call home.  

The climate crisis is here and it is real, from soaring temperatures across the globe to increasingly unpredictable environmental catastrophes, even we here in Virginia are beginning to pay the price. That is why I am an original co-sponsor of the Green New Deal, have consistently received the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters, and why I joined President Biden and our Democratic Congress in taking historic, desperately needed action to cut emissions, transition our economy towards clean energy, and preserve our planet for generations to come. 

We've set incredibly ambitious goals including 100% carbon pollution-free electricity by 2035 and reaching a net-zero emissions economy by 2050. And the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law we passed is a once-in-a-generation investment that will transform our energy infrastructure, improve the climate resilience of our communities, ensure access to clean water, and prioritize environmental justice and equity for the most vulnerable and marginalized among us. When pundits and politicians try and tell you we haven't delivered, remind them that none of this would have happened under Republican leadership.
