Friends —

The Biden administration recently extended its moratorium on student loan repayment until August 31st. You’ll remember that the moratorium began at the beginning of the pandemic and has been extended several times since.

While I understand that the moratorium has afforded many the opportunity to stay afloat financially throughout the pandemic, the fact of the matter is that President Biden could provide immediate relief to millions of Americans by forgiving their debt.

Please, add your name if you agree that the President must cancel federal student loan debt.

Millions of Americans are saddled with debt from higher education that often amounts to hundreds and thousands of dollars.

That includes many who never graduated from college — 40% of all people with student debt — and over 9 million Americans over 50 who were unable to pay off loans either for themselves or family members.

Having student loans often means being unable to save for a rainy day, build wealth, or retire. It’s bad for the economy, and it’s bad for people.

So I’m calling on the President to cancel federal student loan debt. Add your name here to join me.

There’s so much more we can do for Americans seeking higher education, including limiting private universities’ ability to charge as much as they want in tuition.

But relieving individuals of their student debt is a move that the President can take immediately and unilaterally to offer relief to millions.

Thank you for reading,

Alessandra
