Dear John,

Last night, I officially filed an appeal on the Board of Elections’ mistaken decision about my candidacy for Attorney General.

Supporters like you and every major labor group and their members in DC have had my back since I announced my candidacy in October. This election has never been about just qualifying to run for office; it has always been about choosing the most qualified candidate to address issues that range from public safety to workers’ rights. Issues I have tackled as a Councilmember for the last ten years ([link removed]) , including as Chair of the Judiciary Committee. Issues I have worked on as a former civil rights attorney with the Department of Justice, an advisor to the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety, a staffer to Congresswoman Norton and a civic association president.

That’s why I will continue to fight and together, I am confident that we will prevail in court. We will win the primary on Tuesday, June 21. This election will not be decided by K Street and the candidates that they are trying to install at the Office of Attorney General. This election will be decided by Main Street: you and every voter in the District.

I want to thank you and every supporter for the outpouring support our campaign has received thus far. I am not giving up on the fight and I look forward to working with you to make sure our next Attorney General is in fact the People’s Attorney.
