Hi there,

In 1970, Earth Day was conceived by then-congressman Gaylord Nelson as a way to pressure government officials to take action to protect the environment and its people. He famously said:

That objective and our work is more important today than ever before.

Lonely Whale's mission is to prevent plastic waste from entering the ocean. Plastic harms all living creatures and humans when it is produced, when it is used and when it is “lost” to the environment.

That’s why we are working to deliver scalable solutions to the most problematic plastics, why we have more resolve to amplify the voices of youth leaders on our global crises, and why community is at the forefront of our work.

In the spirit of Earth Day, we have two very exciting announcements to share. Please read on and spread the news to your friends and family!

The Wisdom in the Water

OH-WAKE Magazine Issue #3, The Wisdom in Water, was released today alongside the launch of OH-Wake Media, the global youth publishing platform for young leaders who are driving the environmental movement.

These young leaders are marching in the streets, they’re passing sweeping legislation, they’re demanding action, and they're telling their own stories about the change that is needed. But we aren’t hearing them as loudly and as clearly as we ought to.

That is, until now. OH-Wake Media [[link removed]] has one priority in mind: to make the voices of young leaders heard.

Currents of Change: NextWave Plastics’ Stories of Impact

Since 2017, global leaders across our 11 NextWave member companies have successfully launched over 330 premium products made with recycled ocean-bound plastic from suppliers across 25 countries.

The accomplishments of NextWave Plastics member companies are a result of the people - the changemakers - at each company who are doing the in-depth work to create transformative change, taking the lead to tackle challenges, find solutions, and create real impact.

Today, to honor and amplify their work, we launched a new series that tells their stories and shares their “secret sauce” to inspire others to catalyze change in their organization and supply chains: Currents of Change: Nextwave Plastics’ Stories of Impact [[link removed]].

Each week from Earth Day (today!) to World Oceans Day (June 8th), Lonely Whale and NextWave Plastics will publish a brand new installment.

Sincerely,
