John,

I have an important story I’d like to share with you.

Back in the 2000s, they wanted to build a four-lane interstate through
Braddock, a Black and Brown community that was already suffering
historically high asthma rates.

I called this “environmentally racist policy.” I am proud to be among the
only elected officials in Western PA to oppose it.

Even today, it’s a constant struggle. Because communities like the one
that I live in have different environmental standards + outcomes.

These experiences have helped shape one of my core values and a core value
of this campaign: Environmental justice for every American is critical.

It's never lost on me that our future generations are going to feel the
effects of what our national + state governments do today. On so many
issues, from gun violence prevention, to education, to health care, to
climate, our kids are quite literally depending on us to get this right.

John, know that
if you send me to the U.S. Senate, my role as Senator would be informed by
my 13 years as a mayor of a community that has faced many environmental
injustice challenges and as a father who wants his children and his
children’s (future) children to grow up in a better world than the one we
have right now.

We love going to PA’s beautiful parks as a family ❤️

My pledge to you is that I will fight for you, your family, and our planet
each and every day in the Senate. But I need your support to get there.

On the very first day of our campaign for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, I
signed the "No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge" to send a clear message to the
fossil fuel industry.

I have NEVER accepted a campaign donation from the fossil fuel industry —
and I NEVER will.

I’m not running to represent Big Oil. I'm running to represent you. That’s
why our campaign is funded at the grassroots level by people giving small
amounts online through emails like this one.

[ [link removed] ]Can you please make your very
first donation of $5 or another amount to
our campaign? I refuse to accept support from fossil fuel corporations and
the special interests — but that means I’m relying on support from people
like you even more.

I hope you’re able to get outside and enjoy some sunshine, fresh air, and
celebrate our great planet today,
John.

Thanks for your continued support,

John
