We have a once in a generation opportunity to fund our public schools so that every child in Virginia has access to a high-quality education. If we believe that education is a public good, then we have the responsibility to ensure that our next biennium budget makes meaningful investments in our children’s future.

Education funding is one of the largest divides between the two budget bills in front of us. From investments in early childhood education to public schools to our colleges and universities, Democrats understand that our economic strength and resilience is dependent on educated, skilled, and prepared citizens. 

I discussed these investments and my commitment to protecting the future of Virginia’s students in an op-ed published in The Virginia Pilot earlier this week.

I’m incredibly humbled to be able to fight on behalf of Virginians and to protect our students’ rights to a comprehensive and challenging education. I fight as well to fund our schools and increase teacher pay so that we continue to attract and retain exceptional educators.
