A few weeks ago, we marked National Run for Office Day. I am so grateful for everyone who threw their hat into the ring in 2019. The first step to making seats competitive is running good candidates. If we build on that, the results will show. Running for office is hard, but the long hours are worth the ultimate victory: actualizing our vision for safe, healthy, inclusive communities.
As your congresswoman, building our party and fighting for progress in Onondaga, Cayuga, Wayne, and Oswego Counties will always be a major priority for me. With the right candidates, the right message, and a commitment to building a lasting, vibrant movement, we can make every office winnable.

Central and western New York deserve a representative who fights for everyday working families instead of big money interests. That means living wages, Medicare for All, and getting big money out of politics.
Unfortunately, John Katko is more interested in acting like Donald Trump's defense attorney than representing the needs of our district. That's why -- together with the PCCC -- we're going to make this his last term.

Over the past couple of weeks, more than ten separate racist and anti-semitic incidents have targeted Black, Asian, and Jewish students at Syracuse University. Bigotry and hatred have no place on a college campus or in our city. I was proud to join students at the #NotAgainSU sit-in at the Barnes Center at the Arch.

As a Maxwell alumna, a Syracuse resident, and a candidate for Congress, I thoroughly condemn these hateful acts and stand in solidarity with students, faculty, and staff who are working to ensure that SU is a welcoming, inclusive community.
***Multicultural Student Leadership Round Table***
At SUNY Oswego, I sat down with students to talk about their lives, experiences, and how I can best support them as their congresswoman. At our multicultural student leadership roundtable, we had a candid conversation about the very real challenges they face.

We talked about racism, sexual harassment, predatory landlords, and movement-building for change. In the end, my message to them was the same as my message to #NotAgainSU: when you stand together and raise your voices, there is no challenge too big. You are powerful.

I was proud to join voters across NY-24 for six candidate forums over the past few weeks to discuss the issues we face in this election.

From one corner of NY-24 to another, we’ve had an exciting schedule of packed events. In Ontario, DeWitt, and Aurora, I had the opportunity to listen to our neighbors' visions for their communities, as I shared mine.
The best part of the campaign trail, without a doubt, is meeting people in their homes and at their doors. Together, we will flip this seat and put power back in the hands of the people where it belongs.
Dana Balter is a fearless advocate for central and western New York, running for Congress in the 24th district to ensure that everyone gets a fair shot at success.
