John —
Voters across DC this year are worried about violence. Mayor Bowser has proposed a significant increase to MPD's budget and hiring hundreds of more police officers by next year. This shouldn’t be our only choice.
Yesterday, Robert White released A Jobs Guarantee for DC, his powerful vision for reducing violence by creating jobs for everyone who needs one.1
The new proposal would work in partnership with labor unions to create jobs addressing the impacts of climate change in DC. He estimates the program would cost $1.5 billion — on par with recent annual budget increases — while benefitting community safety, income inequality, health, housing, and climate resilience.
This is the type of leadership DC needs, and this weekend we’ll be knocking doors to help elect Robert as DC’s next mayor. Sign up to join our canvas for Robert White tomorrow, Saturday, April 23, from 1-3pm in Ward 6:
Knock doors tomorrow in Ward 6
We're not the only ones who see power shifting. Bowser’s own campaign chair said last week that, "You have to give them credit. They've done a good job organizing."2
Momentum is building for a new mayor in DC and we want you to be part of it. Join us tomorrow and help build the movement for change in DC.
In solidarity,
DC WFP
