This Week at CMD

Today is Earth Day. As we celebrate our planet, let's also recognize the bad actors who are doing just the opposite: dishonestly promoting oil, gas, and coal to benefit themselves and their donors to the detriment of our environment.

Plus, a big quarterly campaign finance filing deadline just happened, and CMD has some scoops about conservative big money in the 2022 elections you're going to want to read.

Here's the latest!

Climate Coverage

Republicans, Climate Deniers, and Ranchers Gather on Earth Day to Stop 30×30

Gov. Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.) hosts the "Stop 30x30 Summit" in Lincoln, Nebraska on April 22. President Biden's 30x30 plan has a goal of protecting at least 30% of America's lands and waters by 2030.

The Dirty Dozen: The Biggest Nonprofit Funders of Climate Denial

A CMD report exposes the U.S.-based nonprofits most responsible for poisoning the discourse on climate change.

Speaking of denial, the Koch-funded Texas Public Policy Foundation is "celebrating" Earth Day by spreading lies about the benefits of fossil fuels!

ALEC Launches Attack on Banks That Divest From Fossil Fuels

As part of its research into those fighting to undermine efforts to protect our climate, CMD is tracking and reporting on a model bill approved unanimously by ALEC's energy task force that would have states blacklist banks that divest from fossil fuels.

Since CMD broke the story in December, versions of the bill have been introduced in Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Oklahoma, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Wyoming. West Virginia and Kentucky now have these laws on the books.

Yes, I want to support CMD's investigations!

Help us uncover more about the shadowy groups spreading lies and misinformation about climate change by making a tax-deductible donation today.
