Four oil industry giants — Exxon Mobil, Shell, Chevron, and BP — made $71 billion in combined profits last year.
$71,000,000,000.
In profits.
- That’s more than the annual budget of 44 different states.
- When you really think about it, it’s just bonkers that these companies — especially considering that they are *still* racing us toward climate catastrophe — make more in profits in one year than it takes to run an entire state like Georgia. Or Colorado. Or Pennsylvania.
- And their shameless exploitation of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will probably see them make even more this year.
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse — with support from Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren among others — has introduced a bill to tax Big Oil’s obscene profits and return money directly to taxpayers.
Tell the Senate:
Give consumers a break and take meaningful action to avert climate disaster. Pass legislation to tax Big Oil’s obscene profits with no further delay.
Add your name now.
Thank you for taking action.
For progress,
