Earlier this week, Ruben wrote about Andrea Salinas’ campaign in Oregon. She’s the progressive endorsed by SEIU, Planned Parenthood, BOLD PAC, the state’s governor and more, but she’s having to take on an obscene amount of outside spending, including more than $1 million from a crypto-billionaire.

Here is the truth:

Our broken campaign finance laws are one of the biggest threats to our democracy we have ever seen.

Unlimited money drowns out the voices of hard-working Americans and we cannot stop until we’ve enacted meaningful campaign finance reform to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to participate in our democracy.

As the rich and powerful use their vast wealth to buy our candidates and elections, it’s easy to understand why some people give up on the political process itself.

But the future of our democracy is too important to give up on. And Ruben’s voice in this fight is powerful among his colleagues. Even more powerful if they know there are a lot of people behind it.
