At this stage of Vladimir Putin’s illegal and unprovoked war against Ukraine, the rumors are starting to pile up, and it’s difficult from the outside to differentiate fact from fiction.
The one rumor that I admit has me completely baffled is how little it appears Putin knew about his own army before he sent them in to try to conquer another country.
Putin’s “mighty Russian army” has turned out to be not-so-mighty, and I’m sure it’s sent him into a Trump-like impotent rage.
Remember, when the invasion started, everyone assumed the Russians would march more-or-less unimpeded through Ukraine and take Kyiv by storm within a week or two, max. But the Ukrainians had other plans, and I, for one, have been inspired.
I have to say, I feel a special kinship to the Ukrainian people because I know what it’s like to be underestimated and forced to punch above your weight class.
You see, when I graduated high school, I was a measly 82 pounds – yup, you read that right, I was small back then. I tried to join the Marines, but I was turned away because I did not meet the minimum 112-pound weight requirement.
That summer I trained – and ate – my ass off. No matter what the meal was, I was adding peanut butter to it, and I hate peanut butter … but I really wanted to join the Marines.
So, after training my ass off all summer, I showed up to the Marine recruiter's office. I arrived pretty early, and he wasn’t there yet … but an Army recruiter was , and he invited me into his office to wait.
We started talking, and he told me about the Army. He told me stories about the 82nd Airborne and jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. I was SOLD. I said, “Sign me up!”
Aside from marrying the love of my life, it was the single best decision I ever made in my life.
The reason why I wanted to share this with you all is because I know all too well how it feels to be the underdog, to be overlooked, but I also know that human grit and determination can overcome almost anything.
The Ukrainians are fighting a just cause, but they’re determined and full of grit, they know the world is behind them, and I believe their drive and dedication can and will carry them to victory.
Meanwhile, President Biden is rallying world leaders to further tighten the sanctions around Putin and his oligarchs, and this is enraging them. Folks, let me tell you, these sanctions are working exactly as designed. Russia is in complete disarray, and Putin is losing control over his own country. His generals and advisors are lying to him, and before long, they will turn on him.
When that day comes – and it is coming – we will see a new world order. The Russian people are not our enemies, Putin is our enemy, and he is the whole world's enemy.
This murderer has butchered innocent people, including children, all over the world – not just in Ukraine, but in Syria, Georgia, and Kazakhstan, too.
The world will be a better and safer place once he is out of power, and that’s why I don’t think President Biden saying “For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power” was the gaffe the negative corporate media seems to think it is – it’s just the truth .
It's not like President Biden is Lindsey Graham, a sitting Senator who openly and irresponsibly called for Putin’s assassination on Twitter. It’s not like he said America or anyone else is going to attempt regime change. He simply stated the obvious: Vladimir Putin is a dangerous man, and the world would be better off if he was no longer charge of Russia.
Who besides Putin could disagree with that?
Back here at home, the FOX propaganda machine can’t go two minutes without squawking about “Hunter Biden's laptop.” President Biden is trying to prevent World War 3 and all these jackaloons want to talk about is his troubled son’s old, discarded computer.
Hunter Biden is not an elected official. Unlike the former guy’s children, he doesn’t work for the White House or any government office for that matter, or yield any power at all, but that's still all the Republicans want to talk about.
Why?
Well, because they can't bring themselves to admit the truth – that our President is doing a fantastic job in an impossible situation. So, they default to doing what they do best – distracting, deflecting, and deceiving.
As always, we need to remember what kind of people we are dealing with, and why we need to defeat them at the ballot box.
Here’s a question to ponder: If the Republicans, led by Trump, were in control right now, whose side would the U.S. military be on in the battle between Ukraine and Putin, between democracy and dictatorship?
You and I both know it wouldn’t be the the side of the good guys, and that’s just another reason why we’ve got to stop the Party of Putin this November.
