Hi friends, Today is Earth Day, a day to reflect on the importance of taking care of the place we all share and call home. We all share the responsibility to leave a better world for our kids, but unchecked pollution from fossil fuels and mega-corporations has put the health and future of our children at risk. Ninety-nine percent of scientists, NASA, and the Department of Defense all agree that climate change is a threat – and we’re already seeing its impact in the forms of increasingly severe weather, drought, and wildfires, which is already devastating our communities in New Mexico. Unfortunately, our current representative only seems to care about corporate profits, out-of-state CEOs, and Wall Street executives. She has shown no interest in addressing climate change, protecting our wildlife and natural resources, or conserving our public lands. That’s a major reason why I’m running for Congress in NM-02: to give our district a conservation champion in Congress who will work to capitalize on clean energy like wind and solar, take bold action to mitigate the impacts of climate change, protect our public lands, address water scarcity and drought, and continue to grow our economy by electrifying our homes, cars, and businesses. I’ve spent a major part of my career in this fight, helping to stop the Gila River diversion, designating new national monuments across our state, fighting for access to the outdoors for our underserved youth, and holding polluters accountable. There’s a good reason why I’ve been endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, New Mexico Wild Action Fund, The Next 50, and the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund: I will fight for you and the future of our planet.
