John,

The climate crisis is the challenge of a generation, and we are quickly running out of time to change course. The devastation of climate change is a direct threat to the livability of our planet, which is why this Earth Day, we must seize this opportunity to confront it head-on.

I’ve dedicated my work in Congress to preserving a livable planet, from prioritizing greenhouse gas emissions reductions to investing in clean energy and advancing environmental justice – and that work is more important than ever.

We are already seeing the damage from climate change, and the truth is our most disadvantaged communities are disproportionately bearing the brunt of that damage. Systemic and economic inequality has resulted in a concentration of toxic air and water pollution and crumbling infrastructure.

If we are going to pursue comprehensive climate action, we can’t leave any of our neighbors without adequate support to build climate adaptation and resilience.

That’s why I voted for the Build Back Better Act, which invests heavily in environmental justice through climate justice block grants, reducing toxic water and air pollution, the creation of good union jobs in clean energy, and more.

As an original cosponsor of the Green New Deal and a member of the Natural Resources Committee, I am committed to working with my House and Senate colleagues on transformative legislation combating climate change. The stakes are just too high to sit idly by.

John, I need to know where you stand. Please, take our Environmental Equity Survey to weigh in on which climate issues are most pressing to you. →

Our climate challenges are not getting easier. While the pandemic brought a temporary reduction in emissions, global carbon pollution is roaring back.

Even in California where we are making great strides on clean energy, our gains are being nearly erased by devastating wildfires that are becoming all too familiar. Recent fire seasons have been the worst in our state’s history.

On the other side of the nation and across the globe, there are intense hurricanes, out-of-control fires in Greece, crippling drought in sub-Saharan Africa, and catastrophic floods in Germany. Our planet is in crisis.

If we fail to act, the frequency and severity of disasters caused by a rapidly changing climate will only worsen.

We must meet the urgency of this moment with action. That means investing in clean energy and manufacturing, holding polluters accountable, restoring protections for cherished natural lands, all while making sure none of our neighbors unfairly bear the burden.

I need to hear your voice on this important issue, John. Will you take a moment to share your thoughts in our Environmental Equity Survey?

Thank you for your dedication to this fight.
