The best way to celebrate Earth Day is with climate action.
I was proud to introduce the Federal Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) Leadership Act this month, aimed at reducing harmful carbon emissions and mitigating the devastating impacts of climate change.
As a former environmental lawyer who used to work for the Environmental Protection Agency, I know we only have one planet to call home, and time is running out to preserve a livable environment for future generations.
This Earth Day, will you add your name and join me in doubling down on our commitment to climate action?
The United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a report earlier this month noting that we only have until 2025 to reach peak emissions and limit warming to 1.5 degrees – that’s why I’m urging my colleagues in Congress to take bold climate action now, because it simply can’t wait.
We must focus on reducing carbon dioxide emissions and our dependence on fossil fuels by investing in green technologies and creating well-paying jobs in the clean energy sector.
I’m particularly glad that the Federal CDR Leadership Act will also prioritize environmental justice by focusing on lowering emissions that have historically – and disproportionately – hurt low-income neighborhoods and communities of color.
We have no time to waste this Earth Day. Your support will make all the difference here. Add your name in support of climate action today. →
Thanks for all you do.
