John, Happy Earth Day!

Each year, we use this day to recommit to defending our planet. In the wake of the IPCC’s reports, the urgency for sustainability progress from businesses, governments, and individuals has never been more present.

We trust that you’re already a true warrior for Mother EarthJohn. But on this Earth Day, we should all be reflecting on what further action we can take to defend our planet. Feeling stuck? Here at SEEC PAC, we’ve put together a fact-based list of great places to start >>

1. Eating more plant-based meals: Livestock production is responsible for 14.7 percent of greenhouse gas emissions, and up to 8,000 gallons of water are used to produce just one pound of beef. Eating even just one plant-based meal a week can cut down your carbon footprint and conserve natural resources.

2. Weatherizing your home: Electricity production is the second-largest greenhouse gas emitter, and HVAC systems account for 50% of a home’s energy use. Ensuring your home is free of leaks and insulation holes can help save you money and limit your need to crank up the AC in the summer.

3. Cut down on food waste: With 43% of food waste produced at home and 40% from restaurants and grocery stores, cutting back on food waste is the best way to stop landfill buildup and resulting methane emissions. Repurposing food scraps and composting are both great ways to keep food out of your waste bin.

4. Talk more about why climate change matters to you: Studies have shown that only 37% of Americans talk to their friends and family about climate change “occasionally” or “often.” Sharing your thoughts, concerns, and knowledge surrounding climate change can help educate and motivate those around you to make sustainable choices too!

5. Become a sustaining member of SEEC PAC: We’ve set an important Earth Day goal to have 47 of our strongest supporters commit to defending our pro-environment House members with a $13 monthly gift. Can we count on you to be one of them, John? [[link removed]]

MAKE IT MONTHLY [[link removed]]Let us explain. Recurring donations sustain us throughout the entire cycle, meaning that we can always count on a certain level of funds to come through the door each and every month, which allows us to budget far out in advance and set critical goals. It’s how we protected and expanded our climate champions in 2020, and it’s how we’ll do it again this November.

We crunched the numbers, and with just 47 more supporters contributing our current average recurring donation amount of $13, we’ll be on track to meet our goals for this cycle.

John, Earth Day shouldn’t just be a one-day event, but a day to consistently commemorate, day after day, month after month. And we can’t think of a better way to celebrate this important holiday than with a monthly gift to keep our pro-environment House members fighting for us in Congress. [[link removed]]

So we’re humbly asking: Will you join SEEC PAC this Earth Day in our mission to advance green priorities in the House by becoming one of 47 sustaining members giving a $13 gift every month? [[link removed]]

Thanks to your help in 2020, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 117th Congress while we undo the damage of the Trump Administration.
