John,
Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” Bill is a dangerous attack on LGBTQ+ people that will do nothing but hurt and stigmatize families across the state – and Paul LePage’s Florida tax dollars helped make it possible.
LePage fled to Florida on day one of Governor Mills’s term. And he likes Florida so much he’s announced that he’s going back to campaign because "All the people in Maine who have money live in Naples, Florida."
We already know that Paul LePage has a history of anti-LGBTQ+ statements. But it’s not just his rhetoric... LePage was the first governor in the country to veto legislation to ban harmful anti-gay conversion therapy.
Governor Mills didn’t just reverse course by signing the bill into law – she’s helped protect our LGBTQ+ communities and make services like gender-affirming care more affordable for those who need it. LGBTQ+ Mainers have every right to live openly and proudly. Paul LePage and the Maine GOP want to undo all our progress.
Thank you,
Alexander
