Tips for calling Gov. Abbott in support of Melissa Lucio: 1) When you call, wait for prompts to finish. 2) If no one picks up, leave a message. 3) Keep calling! You can call every day if you want.

In 2008, Melissa was wrongfully sentenced to death for the murder of her 2-year-old daughter Mariah. Despite the lack of evidence of abuse, Melissa was convicted based on a biased investigation and an inadequate defense that was provided to her by the State.

Mariah passed away in 2007 from injuries she sustained after she accidentally fell down a flight of stairs while her family was in the process of moving. Just a few hours after Mariah died, police took Melissa, then pregnant with twins, into custody and aggressively questioned her for five hours. Reeling from the sudden and tragic loss of her young daughter, Melissa was coerced into incorrectly taking responsibility for some of Mariah’s injuries, in an attempt to get police to end the interrogation. In court, her words were later misconstrued by the prosecution as a confession.

In order to keep Texas from executing an innocent woman, we need as many people as possible to speak up about Melissa’s case. And we are running out of time to make this happen.

Call Gov. Abbott’s office right now and tell him to grant Melissa clemency and stop this irreversible injustice — dial 956-446-2866 or click here to be connected.
