Tweet: Here’s what we’re predicting Republicans are going to try in the ‘22 elections:

⤬ Stack state Supreme Courts w/ justices who they think will rule their way on gerrymandering
⤬ Reelect gerrymandering politicians
⤬ Attempt to avoid accountability for their map manipulation.

John – We’re six-and-a-half months from the midterm elections. To us, that’s a wake-up call.

Not just because we have to work even harder to make sure people can cast their votes on fair maps – but also because if the GOP is successful in 2022, it would set the stage for even more gerrymandering… and worse! Check it out:

❖ If Republicans can successfully stack state Supreme Courts, it could mean more pro-gerrymandering rulings. Rights now, state Supreme Courts are one of the last lines of defense against manipulated maps.

❖ If they can successfully reelect gerrymandering politicians (like Ron DeSantis in Florida and Brian Kemp in Georgia), we can expect more outrageous anti-voter, anti-choice, anti-LGBTQ, anti-education laws introduced and passed by legislators from gerrymandered districts.

❖ If they can successfully avoid accountability, it could signal to Republicans that voters don’t care about their efforts to gerrymander and suppress the vote.

But we’re not going to let ANY of that happen, are we?

No – we’re going to hold the GOP accountable, vote out gerrymandering politicians, and support efforts to keep state Supreme Courts independent and balanced. John – will you pitch in now to help the NDRC keep fighting through the 2022 elections?
