Dear Friend,

More than fifty years after the first Earth Day celebration, we are facing an urgent climate emergency. This crisis has not been met with silence. Earth Day is about recognizing and uplifting the work of the frontline Black and brown, immigrant, worker, and indigenous communities who have been fighting for climate justice for decades.

ALIGN is building coalitions with grassroots environmental justice organizations, labor unions, and communities to call on leaders on all levels of our government to act boldly on climate. This work is more important than ever—will you support our fight for climate justice today?

We are building the momentum for a powerful climate justice movement in New York. Our success is thanks to your generous support.

  • Our Climate Works for All coalition won Local Law 97, the boldest city-level climate and jobs policy in the country that will cut building emissions and create tens of thousands of green, union jobs.
  • As co-founders and leaders of the NY Renews coalition, we won the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) in 2019—the most ambitious climate law in the country.
  • Our Transform Don’t Trash coalition won Commercial Waste Zones in NYC, a safer and healthier private waste collection system that will reduce pollution and improve sanitation worker conditions.

We know the work is far from over. Our Climate Works for All coalition is urging Mayor Adams to invest in Green Healthy Schools to build solar systems and HVAC air control systems for cleaner air and good, green jobs. NY Renews coalition is active across the state in ensuring that the CLCPA is implemented properly. This Earth Day, help us continue our work building a healthier, more sustainable New York with clean air, green jobs, and a livable future!

In solidarity,

Maritza Silva-Farrell
