The New York Times are about to release a new book that details how Kevin McCarthy was "privately bashing" Trump in the aftermath of January 6th.
Here are some of the standout quotes:
“What he did is unacceptable. Nobody can defend that and nobody should defend it,”
"it would be my recommendation the [Trump] should resign.”
In reference to Republican elected officials who spurred on the Jan 6th criminals, McCarthy said,
“Can’t they take their Twitter accounts away, too?”
This is classic McCarthy. First he thought Trump bore responsibility for the Jan 6 attack. Now he's denying it took place -- putting his political motivations and fear of Donald Trump ahead of our democracy.
It's cowardly, it's hypocritical, and he must be stopped.
