For tens of millions of Americans with diabetes, access to insulin is a matter of life or death. But the cost of insulin is too high, and it’s only getting higher.
No one should have to pay $6,000 a year just to stay alive. No child should even have to consider rationing their insulin because they’re afraid of being a financial burden to their parents.
Legislation recently passed by the U.S. House of Representatives would cap insulin prices at $35 a month.
If the bill passes in the Senate and is signed into law by President Joe Biden, working families across the country would be able to save thousands of dollars a year. The money they save can be used to pay bills, put food on the table or just prepare for a rainy day.
Tammy Duckworth supports this legislation because she knows how much it will mean to working Americans to be relieved of the enormous burden of high insulin costs. That’s just one reason why we’re so proud to have her working for us in the Senate.
