Dear John,

This winter, we completed a full renovation of our rooftop deck at the Lincoln Park Adoption Center. This outdoor space is one of the most important things we provide for dogs while they wait for adoption.

Renovations began last year when the previous amenities were showing wear and tear from years of use. The new space is nothing short of a dog paradise.

WGN recently stopped by, and as the cameras rolled we watched a pair of puppies learn how to play tug of war before our eyes. Bouncing around our new rooftop, they were the embodiment of our tagline, "It's Great to be Alive!"

** Spring Adopt-a-Thon Success
------------------------------------------------------------

It's litter season, which means that scores of kittens and puppies are in immediate need. To make room for these incoming pets, we hosted our annual Spring Adopt-a-thon, and found homes for 142 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens went home with loving families thanks to your support during our 2022 Spring Adopt-a-Thon! It was overwhelming in the best way possible to see our incredible community step up and help create space for even more animals in need.

If you couldn’t make it this year, don’t wait until next year! Hundreds of homeless pets are still looking for their people -- and new ones arrive daily. Your new best friend may be just a click away.

** You're Speaking My (Love) Language
------------------------------------------------------------

Matt and Tim were reading different dog profiles on the PAWS Chicago website, trying to find the right match for them. When they came across Cora, her description as a quick learner with a penchant for belly rubs made her a possible candidate. So, Matt and Tim made an appointment to meet Cora in person.

** The Face of Desperation
------------------------------------------------------------

Lauren Stanicek and her husband didn’t have much experience with cats before fostering with PAWS. But the moment they met their first foster kittens, they were hooked. Then they met their most recent foster, Romney, who was attacked by an animal. His face was covered in wounds, and he tested positive for FIV. But his recovery is truly wow-worthy.

** So Long, Schatzi!
------------------------------------------------------------

Schatzi is the biggest sweetie you’ll ever meet. This is perfect because “Schatzi” means “sweetheart” in German. Though she’s been through a lot, she’s also a shining example of PAWS’s promise to every pet who enters our program—no matter what happens, we’ll do everything we can to ensure their happiness for a lifetime.
