Follow and Support MDAA ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ MDAA Academics and Innovation: Semper Supra - MDAA's Military Space Fellowship Dear members and friends, The Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance is honored to announce the establishment of its first Military Space Fellowship. The Military Space Fellowship will bring expertise to MDAA that will incorporate the ever-increasing importance of space capabilities and architectures to support missile defense. The MDAA Military Space fellowship is open to current servicemembers and veterans of the US armed forces who have served as space professionals, who have shown interest for the missile defense space mission, and who imbue the values of the excellence of the many military space practitioners of the past. MDAA is honored to announce that Major William “Brad” Towne, United States Marine Corps Reserve, is the inaugural Military Space Fellow. Maj Towne began his military career in 2010 upon commissioning through the ROTC program at the University of Notre Dame. After basic officer training he was assigned as Operations Officer at the Marine Corps’ 1st Marine Division. In 2013 Maj Towne transitioned to the Marine Corps Reserves, where he served as a Team Leader at 1st Civil Affairs Group. In this capacity he deployed to Central America and the Middle East. Also in 2013, Maj Towne entered the Space enterprise in a civilian capacity as a payload design and integration engineer, and later a competitive strategist, for Boeing Satellite Systems and Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems. In 2019 Maj Towne was designated a Space Operations Officer and was activated to support the re-establishment of US Space Command. During his activation, he was a Strategic Planner, Executive Officer, and Policy Branch Chief within the new Command’s J5 Directorate for Policy, Strategy, and Plans. He now works as a contractor for the US Space Force's Space Warfighting Analysis Center (SWAC) and maintains a reserve position as a Doctrine Officer at US Space Command. Brad will follow in the footsteps of MDAA's esteemed prior military fellows: Kyle Rehberg Zac Buenger Matt Manner Cody Davis Ian Heald David Smaney Collin Meisel John Middleton Brad holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame and The Johns Hopkins University. In August 2022 he will enter Harvard Business School as a candidate for the MBA degree.
